INTRODUCTION

This update, which supersedes an earlier checklist featured in Croquet World Online Magazine in 2000, coincides with the publication of the second edition of the compiler’s work Croquet: A Bibliography by Oak Knoll Press, New Castle, DE (ISBN 1-58456-154-8). The full work, which runs to 940 pages, contains detailed bibliographic descriptions of over 1700 publications, together with analytic notes and several hundred colour illustrations. The present checklist gives brief details only of all entries.

Books and pamphlets are given in Part 1, listed alphabetically by title within first year of publication. In each case, the title is given first, followed by author’s name, place of publication, publisher, year of first publication, and alphanumeric entry number (as listed in the published work). Subsequent issues, if any, are listed separately, in approximate chronological order, under each title.

The following abbreviations occur frequently:

ca (circa, of year of publication)
TBA (to be ascertained)

The checklist is confined to works first published up to 2002 and to subsequent issues, copies of which have been seen by the compiler or which are known on good authority to be held, or to have been held at any time, by institutional or private collections (and in a few instances to unpublished works that are known to have had some currency). Works that have been seen by the compiler, together with a few known works of special significance that have not been seen, are designated by entry numbers prefixed ‘A’, other works by entry numbers prefixed ‘C’.

Use your browser as an aid to navigation — for example, to identify works by a particular author, or those issued by a particular publisher. Patents are given separately in Part 2, listed by year of first filing. Those seen by the compiler are designated by entry numbers prefixed ‘B’; others believed to exist are prefixed ‘D’.
